SHIBUNKAKU was established in Kyoto in 1937. Cultivated by the ancient imperial capital’s history and culture, we have developed a unique aesthetics for great art that transcend cultural and geographical borders, regardless of its period or genre. Our specialism includes early modern and modern Japanese painting and calligraphy, as well as with as postwar and contemporary art. SHIBUNKAKU supports institutions’ and museums’ academic and research activities. Our works are acquired by collectors and museums worldwide and are regularly lent to their important exhibitions.
