Gallery KTO is a contemporary art gallery that opened in Harajuku, Tokyo in 2019.
KTO means "someone's" in Russian, and through this location, we hope to continue to be a hub for more artists and viewers, and we are constantly introducing new art projects. Currently, We have exhibition spaces in Shibuya and Nagoya, and in cooperation with a beauty salon in Gaienmae. We hold about 48 exhibitions a year in a total of 4 spaces. Furthermore, a new space is scheduled to open in Tokyo by the this year.
The gallery exhibits up-and-coming young artists and mid-career/experienced artists who have been overlooked by art history, and handles a group of works that are art without boundaries, paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, animation, and installation works. We appreciate the works of art together with the visitors to the gallery, and we directly convey the appeal to them.
We will strive to provide everyone with a wonderful artistic experience.
We will be exhibiting a solo exhibition titled 〈Ryosei Senoo:" Judgement of Paris"〉.
The "Judgement of Paris," an episode from Greek mythology that is said to have started the Trojan War, has been the subject of many painters, including Rubens. In this exhibition, Senoo will present a new "Judgement of Paris" from a contemporary perspective through his fascinating paintings of monsters created by deconstructing photographs, outlining them with black lines, and then reconstructing them. In addition, a collaborative work by Miyabi Starr, Akio Onishi, and Yuriko Nishikawa will also be presented.
