MISA SHIN GALLERY opened in November 2010 in Shirokane, Tokyo, a central neighborhood and historically industrial area that still contained small factories. In August 2018, the gallery relocated to Minami-Azabu, a quiet residential area that is also home to many embassies. Since its founding, the gallery has presented cutting-edge exhibitions, introducing both local and international artists who express themselves through conceptual approaches. Besides presenting exhibitions by globally recognized artists, the gallery aims to give mid-career artists their rightful position in the history of art. The gallery also features and promotes Japanese Conceptual art from the 1960s and 70s, offering a wealth of new insight and an analysis of art history from Postwar Japan, giving the artists opportunities to exhibit and simultaneously introducing them to institutions and collectors worldwide.
