ICHION CONTEMPORARY is a contemporary art gallery established in Osaka in 2023. In 2025, the gallery relocated and reopened in a new building designed by architect Tadao Ando. The gallery focuses on postwar Japanese art, particularly the Gutai Art Association, Mono-ha, and avant-garde artists from the Kansai region. Our mission is to preserve the innovative and experimental spirit of postwar Japanese art and to promote its value globally through exhibitions, publications, and participation in international art fairs. In addition to presenting historical avant-garde works, ICHION CONTEMPORARY actively supports emerging artists and fosters cultural exchange programs, especially between Japan and other Asian countries, such as China. Our inaugural exhibition in 2025, GUTAI: An Enduring Spirit, welcomed over 2,000 visitors during its three-month run. ICHION CONTEMPORARY continues to work towards opening new horizons for contemporary Japanese art and facilitating international cultural dialogue.
