Modern Japanese oil painting, which developed in a distinctive way from the Meiji period onward, is one of Japan’s most important cultural achievements and remains widely appreciated today. Our mission is to share the richness of this tradition while helping to preserve it for future generations. We also actively exhibit and support contemporary artists.

Works of art embody the presence of individual human beings.
