MISA SHIN GALLERY opened in November 2010 in Shirokane, Tokyo, a central neighborhood and historically industrial area that still contained small factories. In August 2018, the gallery relocated to Minami-Azabu, a quiet residential area that is also home to many embassies. Since its founding, the gallery has presented cutting-edge exhibitions, introducing both local and international artists who express themselves through conceptual approaches. Besides presenting exhibitions by globally recognized artists, the gallery aims to give mid-career artists their rightful position in the history of art. The gallery also features and promotes Japanese Conceptual art from the 1960s and 70s, offering a wealth of new insight and an analysis of art history from Postwar Japan, giving the artists opportunities to exhibit and simultaneously introducing them to institutions and collectors worldwide. One of the gallery’s further objectives is to seek a relationship between art and other disciplines, such as architecture, theater, and music.
